The Gift of the Authentic Self
In fact in the years to come, authenticity will become the replacement for enlightenment as the true goal of spiritual practice. ~ Teal Swan
What I have noticed over the years, as a coach and teacher, is that the times when I was being the most transparent and authentic were the times that I was able to touch and help people the most and vice versa. The times that people were the most authentic and open with me, were the times that they allowed me to assist them the most.
Showing your vulnerability can be powerful. There is nothing wrong with the human condition. By removing our masks of perfection we can make intimate connections and touch people’s hearts. It all starts with connecting with our authentic self within.
Authenticity is starting from where you are. It is fully accepting the totality of your thoughts, feelings, actions, your state of consciousness, the state of your physical body . . .(etc.) and not judging one aspect of you to be right or wrong, better or worse, spiritual or not spiritual.
Authenticity leads to a deep exploration of the heart and soul and an honest assessment of who you are now, not who you want to be or who you think you should be. Authenticity does not put you above or below someone else. It is simply asserting, This is who I am, now. Authenticity is not about becoming someone else, it is about being more you, becoming more of your authentic self.
Authenticity leads to recognizing your humanity which leads to recognizing the humanity in others, which leads to humane actions such as compassion, empathy, and love.
Through the gift of authenticity we have a chance to grow at our own pace, in our own perfect time. By being authentic we can look forward to being more accepting of ourselves, making real and intimate connections with others, and being grateful for what we were given to work with. The greatest gift of authenticity is feeling the joyful expression of what it like to truly discover and be our authentic self!
Whatever type of journey you are on, I say, Come as you are. You are welcome here.
