Spiritual Practice - Your Anchor in Tough Times

spiritual practice

I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Perhaps it’s the cold rainy weather, the stress of the anticipation of the holidays, been working too much and spending too much time on the computer . . . among other things. I just have felt really disconnected lately.

I am sharing this because I know we all feel disconnected sometimes. What I realized is that if I have a spiritual practice that I practice everyday no matter what, it can help to anchor me during the times I feel disconnected to my soul, my source, and my joy. When I feel connected, my spiritual practices help to expand and multiply my light and joy. When I feel disconnected, my spiritual practices help me to see the light, even though at times it feels far away, it is comforting to know the light is there.

Some of my spiritual practices include meditating, praying, offering a blessing, picking an oracle card, or reading from one of my favorite uplifting spiritual books. The truth is, when I’m feeling down I don’t feel like doing them, but when I do, I feel so much better. Even if I just feel a little bit better, if gives me a sense of empowerment to know that I can do things to change my state of being.

You know if your spiritual practices are beneficial when they give you hope, faith, strength and, sometimes even, insight to deal with the situations in your life. They are not an escape from your problems, but more like a boost to give you the energy you need to move forward.

Spiritual practice is about communion. And we all connect uniquely. I like to say there are many stairways to heaven. Sometimes we commune with spirit instantly and sometimes it takes awhile to brush off the day, but we all have a light inside we can acknowledge and cultivate with a little effort and practice.

    Hi Cecilia,
It was great to meet you last weekend in San Clemente. I found our brief session very fulfilling. You mentioned a meditation group you head-up in south orange county. Is that in person or via Skype?
